We take a glass-half full approach to our work - looking for what we've got to build with, what our community assets are and what needs to be done in the community. Our vision and our objectives help guide our work.
It’s a simple statement, but it carries a lot of important concepts in it. We believe Waiheke has the potential to be a true model of environmentally sustainable community, where living sustainably is the norm.
We use the World Commission on Environment and Development (The Brundtland Report) definition of sustainability: “…meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
The Waiheke Resources Trust aims to educate and inform the community - as well as visitors and local businesses - on sustainable practice.
