Anna Dawson started her career in Civil Engineering with a focus on water resources and was invited to work on micro hydropower projects in the Philippines. From there she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in International Development and became interested in infrastructure with a strong social focus and community based small-scale development.
It was on a 9000 nautical mile sailing trip from New Zealand to the Philippines that Anna found the cause that spoke to her the most, reducing ocean plastic. She has worked on beach clean ups and education to reduce plastic in both the Philippines and New Zealand and recently co-founded a zero waste food business called Plastic Free Pantry on Waiheke.
Anna deeply admires the work of the Waiheke Resources Trust and believes they play a pivotal role in community education, conservation and ensuring the UN sustainable development goals are embraced with vigour and enthusiasm on the island.
