My name is Aude and I am a 22-year-old French student majoring in Environmental Sciences.
I wanted to have my internship in New Zealand in the first place simply because I knew this country had both amazing sceneries and amazing people. I must say that I am not disappointed! There is such a strong and unique community committed to tackling environmental issues and preserving the lush biodiversity on Waiheke.
During my internship at WRT, I would like to investigate new approaches of sustainability by contributing to various projects: build a Wash Against Waste trailer to help organise Zero Waste Events, install a Community fridge in Oneroa, lead a campaign to raise awareness about the ShareWaste project, extend the use of an app tackling food waste on Waiheke, etc.
I will also have the opportunity to contribute to other various activities at WRT, such as Kai Conscious, Love our Wetlands and other projects.
This experience will allow me to learn how to live sustainably, and will surely help me spread the word in France, where personal and community involvement are really hard to cultivate.
