criteria

You will be creating works of art for a live performance on a catwalk stage. Therefore, we encourage a theatrical element in your designs. Garments must be total in concept - ie if entering a skirt, there must be an accompanying top.

All garments will need to be modeled and the models will need to be available for rehearsals. The creators should provide their own models and they will be notified prior to rehearsals.

All garments will be judged on originality, creativity, innovation, construction quality and - most importantly - must be made of recycled materials relevant to the categories. And all garments must be safe to wear.

Important: Garment must be made from at least 85% recycled materials.

We encourage you to use construction materials (glues, paints, dyes, resins etc) that are natural, non-toxic or bio-degradable.

  • Costumes must not have been entered in other shows or events.

  • All entries will be subject to a selection process and all entrants will be notified if they have been selected or not.

  • An entry fee of $10 for adults and $5 for children must accompany the registration form and all entries must be submitted by Monday 29th August 4pm at the latest.

  • All entries will be subject to a selection process and all entrants will be notified if they have been selected or not.

  • Your garment must be able to withstand up to 6 wearings and should be safe to wear.

  • Your costume must be made from:

- man-made waste (household, industrial or manufactured)

- organic waste / materials

- re-used / recycled clothing, objects, fabrics.

  • Each piece must include a diary of how the garment was made and the materials used, along with notes on inspiration and a brief biography of the creator. Photos of the garment as it’s being made are useful.

  • We encourage collaboration with parents / caregivers / adults to help children with the creative process. Adult group work is fine too.
