Taking Action on Water at School
Water is a precious resource – especially on Waiheke where we have to collect our own! For Waiheke schools there are costs associated with collection and storage of water so, if our schools can conserve water where possible, they will save money in the process.
- Fix leaks as soon as you find them! It’s amazing ho much water can be lost through a dripping tap or leaking pipe.
- Plant locally sourced native plants instead of exotics as these will require less watering and are more suited to the local climate.
- Install water saving devices on taps and shower heads and gizmos in single flush toilets. These will really help to reduce water use and most people wont notice the difference.
