Waiheke has community gardens in Blackpool, Surfdale, Ostend and Onetangi GrOW (Grow our Own on Waiheke) welcomes volunteers and have many ways of contributing, including helping withplanting, weeding, teaching free workshops and manning the GrOW table at the Ostend Market every Saturday. There are various groups working on looking after our beautiful Waiheke beaches. Some of the issues facing our beaches include coastal erosion, competing uses of beach space, vehicle access, damage caused by the use of vehicles on the beach, improving public facilities, and litter.
