We are delighted to announce that Kai Conscious Café is springing back into action on 23rd September.
The Café will re-open on the first day of spring and will keep running every Friday.
11-1PM: Volunteers are welcome to help cook rescued food together. Our experienced cooks will help you adapt recipes and use up all the rescued ingredients that come in on the day.
1PM onwards: Everyone is welcome to join our community meal. It’s a chance to meet old friends and make new ones.
Koha in the form of surplus produce, time cooking or cleaning up, and donations all welcome.
*We request that everyone joining the Café wear a mask. As elsewhere, if you feel unwell please stay at home: the Café will be on every Friday so there’s always next week.
Kai Conscious Café aims to bring the Waiheke community together for a delicious and nutritious meal using rescued food. Its goal is to divert kai from landfill and address food insecurity by rescuing food and teaching sustainable food management and strategies to minimise household food waste. Kai Conscious food collections and the Café are currently funded through Foundation North and Countdown.
