Waiheke Climate Action Hui

09/03/2021 @ 14:00 - 17:00

This hui aims to bring together all the local organisations who are working to transition to a carbon neutral future for Waiheke, with the objective of creating one cohesive Climate Action Plan for the Waiheke local board area.  The plan will draw together local community action in the areas of EAT (food waste reduction, local food production, eating plant based meals), MOVE (sustainable transport and EV’s), ENERGY (energy efficient, electric homes), GROW (carbon sequestration), SHOP (local circular economy), and TALK (climate advocacy).   In addition to capturing all the great mahi already underway that we want to keep going, we’ll look to identify gaps and opportunities for collaboration on new local projects that align with the priority climate change mitigation actions identified in Auckland’s Climate Plan Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri.  Waiheke local board will be the fourth local board to develop a local climate action plan, joining WaitemataWhauPuketapapa and Henderson-Massey.

We hope you can join us in this afternoon of networking and co-creating the better world we know is possible for our island, our planet, our tamariki and future generations.

This hui has moved online – please contact Liz.Ross@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz for more information.
