Bruised fruit? Smoothie bike to the rescue!

The Kai Conscious team were a buzz with customers the Ostend Market recently cycling their way to smoothie heaven on the new smoothie bike! Using slightly bruised fruit, kindly donated by the good people at the Island Grocers, pedal power and a little water plus coconut milk the crowds enjoyed free smoothies while helping to spread the message to think twice before throwing food away.

In Aotearoa 122,547 ton of food is thrown out annually.

This would feed 262,917 people for a year! Kai Conscious has some great ideas up their sleeve to bring food waste into the spot light and provide fun, exciting & earth friendly events to Waiheke in 2017. To be kept up to date on upcoming events like the WRT facebok page here.

Kai Conscious Waiheke (KCW) engages households in activities and events aimed to support sustainability through food waste reduction and composting.
