Kai Gardens Greenhouse Getting its Legs

Kai gardens growing

Thanks to a generous donation from HomeGrown Waiheke, WRT was able to purchase a greenhouse for seedling raising.

This past week, community members answered the call for volunteers to help set up and run the WRT kai gardens, which will be used to grow produce and natives. The floor has been straightened and weed matting put down. Benches are being created out of reused pallets and other upcycled materials, and soon the greenhouse will be seeing its first seedlings!

We are still looking for seed raising trays and good-quality punnets that we can reuse, so if you or your friends have any to spare, please drop them off at the Waiheke Sustainability Centre on Mako Street.
